This page seeks to document the ancestry of my husbands maternal grandmother.
Florence Emily ‘May’ Day born in Poyle Buckinghamshire, England emigrating to Australia with her parents at about five months of age in 1909. They came to Australia aboard ‘The Commonwealth’, Lund’s Blue, Anchor Line, via Cape Town. The Day and Warrell families all came from England – Berkshire, Middlesex, Kent and Lincolnshire.
Other surnames on the Day line include May, Sexton, Johnson and Dewberry. On the Warrell side, Gibbons, Gainsborough, Lamb, Chamberlin, Sharman, Atkin/s, Gibbons, Whyte, Hamilton, Kidd, Hobman and Bottle. All from England, but various counties including Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Essex and Lincolnshire.
